After recently reopening after renovation, the updated Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 is certainly worth a visit if you are flying business class on a Star Alliance carrier or hold Star Alliance Gold from London Heathrow Terminal 2. I haven’t visited this lounge in a few years, but after the recent renovation, it is much better than I remember it. Whilst the layout is the same and décor is familiar, seating has been replaced, the food and beverage offering updated, and the lounge just feels fresher.
Here is what the Lufthansa Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 2 looks like in 2025.

Location of the Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2
The Lufthansa Lounge is the only Star Alliance Lounge at the A Gates in Terminal 2. All other Star Alliance Lounges are located at the B Gates which are mainly by widebody aircraft for long haul flights.
The A Gates generally cater to the Star Alliance regional short haul market, however there are some exceptions. On the day of my departure, a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul was departing from the B Gates, and my returning inbound LOT Polish Airlines flight from Warsaw arrived into the B Gates.
After you pass through Terminal 2 security, head to the right and the Lufthansa Lounge is located right before the down escalators to the A Gates.
The Lufthansa Lounge is great if you are running short on time and flying from the A Gates as the B Gates are a 10-15 minute walk away, and there are travelators in only one direction (from A Gates to the B Gates) but not the other way. No wonder the Lufthansa Lounge was very busy upon my visit at 1pm on a Friday.

Opening Hours
The Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 is open from 5am to 10pm every day.
This is an hour before the first Star Alliance departure from Terminal 2 (the daily 6am Lisbon, Vienna and Zurich flights) until the boarding time of the last Start Alliance departure (the daily 10:30pm to Cairo and 10:35pm to Istanbul).
If you are flying on an early morning flight, note that Terminal 2 security opens at 4:45am, the Lufthansa Lounge opens at 5am, and boarding from the departure gate will start 40 to 30 minutes before departure time. So if you are taking one of those 6am flights, you might only have time to grab a quick breakfast and cup of coffee before needing to head to the departure gate.

Seating Options
The Lufthansa Lounge at Terminal 2 is split into two areas – the Business Class Lounge (for those travelling business class or first class on Star Alliance carriers) and the Senator Lounge (for Star Alliance Gold members). The Senator Lounge is supposed to be an elevated experience above the standard business class offering, however both areas on my visit were absolutely packed. There are seating options for all types of travellers in both areas, including high bar tables, low arm chairs, a chaise lounge area, and booth seating, perfect for couples or colleagues. There is also a business centre with workstations, and phone booths for important business calls.

Food Options
I can confidently say the food has had a massive upgrade after renovation. There are more options, and more options are suitable for passengers with dietary restrictions. In the Senator Lounge (for Star Alliance Gold passengers), on offer before my Friday evening flight was:
- Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas
- Giant breadzels (like other Lufthansa lounges)
- Teriyaki Broccoli and Tofu (vegan)
- Rice
- German Potato Soup
- Trio couscous and roasted vegetables salad
- Carrot, beetroot and feta salad with orange vinaigrette
- Mixed leaf salad
- Peppered Pastrami Reuben bagel
- Roasted peppers, cheese, spinach and pesto sandwich (vegetarian)
- Mixed berries pannacotta
- Orange polenta bundt cake
- Cranberry oatmeal cookie (vegan)
- Fresh fruit salad
- Red Leicester, White Cheddar and crackers
The main Business Class Lounge actually had the same range as above with some additional options:
- Cottage Pie
- Braised chantenay carrots and peas
In all, a fairly decent selection to accommodate most dietary requirements. A noticeable upgrade from the previous food offering the last time I was visiting this lounge.

Bar Selection
The Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 operates a self-serve bar, with plenty of options to choose from. In my opinion, the selection at the Lufthansa Lounges in Germany is superior, but there is still a pretty wide selection available to suit all tastes. Here is the bar selection that was available on my visit:

Beer:
- Meantime IPA
- Beck’s Blue (non-alcoholic beer)
- Erdindger
- Brewdog Lost Lager (on tap)
- Hofmeister Helles (on tap)

Wine:
- Arcobello Prosecco Brut N.V.
- Villa Wolf Dry Riesling 2023 – Pfalz, Germany
- Marques de Reinosa Blanco Rioja 2023 – Spain
- Villa Wolf Dry Pinot Noir 2022 – Pfalz, Germany
- Carignan Old Vines De Chansac IGP 2023 – France
- Vegneti Del Sole Sangiovese 2023 – Puglia, Italy

Spirits:
- JJ Vodka
- Haymans London Dry Gin
- Haymans Vibrant Citrus Gin
- Makers Mark Whisky
- Angostura Bitters
- Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
- Monkey Shoulder
- Aperol
- Martini Rosso Vermouth
- Martini Extra Dry Vermouth
- Hennessey VSOP Cognac
- Campari
- Baileys
- Seedlip Spice 94 (non-alcoholic)

The Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 also had the following non-alcoholic options:
- Orange Juice
- Apple Juice
- Lemon and Ginger Infused Water
- Coca Cola Classic
- Coca Cola Zero
- Fanta
- Sprite Zero
- Tonic Water
- Elderflower Cordial
It’s sad that there is no Champagne available (only Prosecco), and the Gin selection is narrow compared to other Star Alliance Gold Lounges at Heathrow. The Lufthansa Lounges in Germany also serve Grey Goose which is noticeably absent here too. It is however nice to see two beers on tap in an airport lounge.
If you do have time, you may be better to visit one of the lounges at the B Gates (Singapore Airlines Lounge or United Club) as they have staffed bars, with cocktails available and a better bar selection available (in my humble opinion).
Bathrooms and Showers
There are no showers available at the Lufthansa Lounge at Terminal 2 sadly. If you have access to the Lufthansa Lounge through Star Alliance Gold or through flying Business Class or First Class with a Star Alliance carrier and have time, I would recommend heading to the United Club at the B Gates for a shower, or the Singapore Airlines Lounge. The Air Canada Lounge also has showers but you will need to check availability with reception as there is only a few available.
The bathrooms in the Lufthansa Lounge were very clean and normal on my visit – nothing extraordinary and no additional toiletries to note.

How to Access the Lufthansa Lounge at London Heathrow
There are a few ways to access the Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2:
- Hold Star Alliance Gold status
- Hold Miles&More Frequent Traveller, Senator or HON Circle status
- Fly Lufthansa Group Business Class (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss)
- Fly Star Alliance Business Class or First Class
- Hold the American Express Platinum or Centurion card
If you hold the American Express Platinum or Centurion, I would much rather relax before my flight at the Lufthansa Lounge than the Priority Pass alternative at the Plaza Premium Lounge, which has a nice interior but a really poor food and beverage offering.
Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 Guest Policy
The Guest policy is fairly straight forward for Lufthansa lounges in general:
- Star Alliance Gold status – can bring 1 guest travelling on the same flight
- Business Class with Lufthansa Group or Star Alliance – no guests
- First Class with Star Alliance or Lufthansa Group – 1 guest
- Miles&More Frequent Traveller – no guests
- Miles&More Senator – 1 guest
- Miles&More HON Circle – 1 guest
- Amex Platinum and Centurion when flying Lufthansa, Austrian or Swiss – cardholders only
If you’re not flying business class, don’t hold Star Alliance Gold status or travelling with additional guests, you can also buy day passes to the Lufthansa Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2 via the Lufthansa website here for £49.

Conclusion
The Lufthansa Lounge has had a massive step up in the food and beverage offering after recent renovation in late 2024. Seating has been upgraded and the lounge now feels new and modern. As the only lounge at the A gates at Heathrow Terminal 2, the Lufthansa Lounge (both Business Class Lounge and Senator Lounge) were absolutely rammed on my Friday afternoon visit, so I would recommend trying to get to the airport slightly earlier if you can and heading to the B Gate Lounges instead. If you are short on time and departing from the A Gates, it’s a great lounge to quickly pick up a coffee and takeaway bagel before your flight, or have a quick pre-flight beer and fish and chips.
It’s also well worth exploring the other three Star Alliance lounges at Heathrow Terminal 2 if you can get to the airport early:
